Our Family Circus

After we shared with the children about the move, My Dear took the little ones to NC to visit grandparents.   I had a conference and he had planned to assist his dad in a project.   It worked out great in that the kiddos could talk freely about the move as maintaining a secret at home until My Dear could share with the church was a bit more challenging.....and not just for me! Miss B wrote this story for me to have so I would not be lonely while she was gone.   So here is an original by our Little Belle, the Disney version of a bookworm. I love when people I know meet other people I know and worlds collide! As you can imagine, the news of our moving to a third world country was not exactly exciting news to our parents.   Not because they do not love the Lord but because, well....they are our parents and we are taking their grandchildren with us. Grandad has been to Haiti a few times.   In fact, he planned to go with My Dear on a trip last January but an accident kept him from going.   He had to use the ticket soon so, he is there now.   He called us this morning to ask where Baptist Haiti Mission is. My Dear got an email later this afternoon from our friend Trey who is already at the mission.   He said he saw a guy in a UK t-shirt and being a part of BBN (Big Blue Nation for all of ya'll Hoosiers!) he went over to talk with him.   They chatted for awhile and the man asked if he knew My Dear.....yep, worlds collide as our friend and soon to be ne...

A week ago at church Ms. Lida talked to her kindergarten class about the disciples leaving their old lives and all of their possessions and following Jesus when He called them.   The children were challenged to draw a picture or make a list of what they "cherish" to see that following Christ presents rewards that are far better than the things we hold close.    Miss B's list read:  (errors included) MY Litte blanky My Friends My Family My home My room Our Toyroom My bFF My best budde My MaMi the back page continued.... My MoTher My FaTher  My sis My brother THE END I Love God This list is pretty precious but for me it was gut wrenching.   I knew something that Miss B. did not.   The God of the Universe was about to call her to give up the front side of her list...okay not give it all up but give up the way she knows it.  The exception would be the little" blanky" and that thing is MIA most...

After making some changes to my google account, I was no longer able to get into the blog....it was just there, floating in space!  Tonight, when I should be sleeping, I cleaned out my email and guess what?   Well, right there, they told me what I have been doing would no longer work.....tarnation!   Reading is wonderful....but you have to do it to learn something! So with that, I am back!

My Dear planned a mission trip for next week.   His summer is FILLED with camps and mission trips.   After posting the trip for weeks, only girls signed up to go.    Hmmm.....   They just happen to be going to a place close to my heart because so many that I love are near.   So, we are Trading Places!   My Dear will be the stay-at-home-daddy and I get to be the "youth minister."   Well, actually, I get to be the chick driving a church van with some of my very favorite young women in it, my sweet college aged friend driving shotgun and a two young women that I am sooo looking forward to getting to know. I am excited, nervous, a bit anxious....all of those emotions that come with stepping out of your comfort zone.   Oh, did I mention we will be doing construction!   See what I am sayin'! I look forward to being with these young women, in this beautiful part of the country, in worship daily...

Delights are what I call those gifts that God gives us that are reminders that He loves us. I never purchased those tiny flip flops because tiny feet struggled to keep them on.   Our Miss B. is still pretty small but really wants a pair of flip flops.   I continued to forget to look at them in a discount store when we were there.   We stopped at a store recently to look at prices of shoes for me and she reminded of the flip flops.   We went to the little girl section to find $15 flip flops for little feet when the flip flops for me were $10 hum....apparently flashing lights in your flip flops raises the bar.   I was not willing to pay that.   But on the other side of the store were shoes for boys and guess what we found for less than a dollar Yep!   She was so thrilled she asked to sleep in them.    Here she is all ready for bed!

Our reading list for May: Kisses From Katie by Katie Davis      The story of a young woman who gave up the "American Dream" that she was well on her way of receiving to answer the call of Christ to the orphans and poor in Uganda.   *Warning* your heart will be changed.   I read the book and now 9 year old Dolly is sleeping with it as she reads through it.   I wonder if the next "Katie Davis" is not sleeping across the hall.
