Almost Missed It!

Image
My Dear gets plenty of calls of folks needing help. He has to discern those phone calls. Thursday, he got a call. He then called me to tell me that we would be hosting 2 "guys" in our home for dinner Saturday night and they would be sleeping at our neighbor's, which is also his coworker. Let's just say, I had my concerns! I have 3 children to protect! If our friend Tanya was on board-then I guess I was too! MAN-I almost missed a blessing!! Kurtis and Tom are riding their bicycles from Colorado to New York. Tom maps the journey and Kurtis calls churches seeking housing. They bike about 60 miles a day. These college students did not even train for this trip but just went for it! Our Man Cub was most excited about meeting these guys and Little Miss likes having guest in our home, so they were checking the clock all afternoon. My Dear chose to meet them on our bike-baby seat included! So of course the big kids had to go too! Our friend Tanya decided to fix the meal which...

A Similar Shade of Green

We are reading this book in Homebuilders class at church. I love my time with these folks! It goes so fast and I look forward to it every week! That is just a sidebar. Anyway, we have started our study on conveting. I have fallen in that trap so many times as you know without reason! I am blessed and then blessed again! The author, J.John mentions that we think other's grass is greener and we busy ourselves coveting it versus, looking at our own grass. So, here is a shade of my grass for a couple of days this week-there are weeds so be careful not to trip up in them and covet my grass as you read, cause you have your own Bluegrass ! 1. Wanted to buy my friend a book that really ministered to her when she borrowed mine. Well, this week-I WON ONE! Called my girl right up to tell her the good news! 2. Sold a chunk of books I bought to resale and have made my money back on them fairly quickly as well as gotten the books our classroom needed. 3. Have felt insecure around a woman that I ...

Ain't No Ordinary Love

My Favorite Hippies doin' their thang! Not so long ago, I read Matthew 25-the Parable of the Talents. I was challenged to check and see if I am using the talents that God has given me. The past 3 years I have been involved in a crazy, fun outreach event at our church called You Go Girl! Last year, I heard God, very clearly, tell me to step back from the planning team and to minister as a volunteer-which, I know is A LOT of work but is SO important! When I read this passage, I questioned God-in case He had forgotten, I guess-that He had told me to step back. I must say, it was hard not to be involved at times but at other times, I saw so clearly why He put the reigns on me. Later in my doubtfilled afternoon, I got a phone call from a planning member who was a little stressed. Her question was so simple, but it got my heart a jumpin' ! It was right in my "talent." She simply needed a song to open the event with. YEAH!!! I LOVE THIS STUFF!! I knew just the song! I took ...

A Sweatpant Week

Image
Have you ever had a sweatpants day? You know, when you have no desire to leave the house. Well this week has been a sweatpants week! The big kids both had running noses and the 3 boxes of tissue we had were gone in 2 days. They did not want to do anything including school work which made it hard for all of us. Only after the fact, do I realize, that their little heads and bodies were hurting too. Clay tells me often that he does not want to do school so when he told me a couple of days this week, I just assumed it was as usual. When someone is not feeling well, it seems to make all of us grumpy--a sweatpants week! This morning I awoke with a sore throat and runny nose. I wish I had gotten sick first to know what those little darlings felt like and would have had more sympathy for them and the tears and tissues that were used this week. The kids, thankfully, are feeling much better. We did not start school off first thing this morning for obvious reasons. I decided to wait until afte...
